Roberto Pineda II, M.D

Roberto Pineda II, M.D.is an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School and was former Chief Resident and Cornea Fellow at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. He joined the Infirmary staff in 1998, served as Chief of Ophthalmology at the Brigham & Women’s Hospital and is currently a member of the Refractive Surgery Services at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary. His primary interest is in refractive surgery and anterior segment reconstruction. Dr. Pineda has been a co-investigator in excimer laser FDA clinical trials and has developed tools used in managing LASIK complications.

Ula Jurkunas, M.D.

Dr. Jurkunas has been on staff at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary since completing her residency training. Her clinical interests are: refractive surgery, cornea and external disease, including limbal stem cell deficiency, endothelial dysfunction, corneal infection, corneal transplantation, cataract surgery

Samir Melki, M.D., Ph.D.

Dr. Melki is a leading authority on laser vision correction. He is a senior instructor with the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, where he teaches physicians from around the world. He is currently an attending Physician at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, where he completed his two-year fellowship training in corneal diseases and laser vision correction. He is also on the clinical faculty at Harvard Medical School. He has performed more than 5,000 LASIK, LASEK, and PRK procedures and has authored two textbooks on the subject. Several surgical instruments bear his name for his innovative design. Dr. Melki’s leading role in refractive surgery has been recognized by the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery for his award-winning technique of M-LASEK. His clinical practice also encompasses corneal and complex cataract surgery.

Amy Scally, O.D.

Dr. Scally has been on staff at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary since completing her residency training at the Bedford VA Hospital in Bedford, Massachusetts. Prior to her residency, Dr. Scally graduated from the New England School of Optometry. Dr. Scally also received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Biochemistry from Boston College.
